About Maarten

 

Maarten Combrink (2000) is a Dutch jazz trombonist and composer. After winning the ITA Carl Fontana Competition in 2021, he recently won the J.J. Johnson Jazz Trombone Competition in Utah (USA).

He plays almost every week with the Metropole Orkest. At the same time he is a member of bands like the Peter Beets New Jazz Orchestra, All Ellington, Gerardo Rosales y La Vintage, Jasper Blom Bigband, Nabou Claerhout Trombone Ensemble, Huize Lucas and BvR Flamenco Big Band.  

Maarten also played/recorded with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Dutch Swing College Band, Son Bent Braam, New Trombone Collective, Paradox Jazz Orchestra, New Cool Collective, Cubop City Big Band, Orkest Koninklijke Luchtmacht, Marinierskapel, Rolf Sanchez and New Composers Pool.

Maarten studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, where he recently completed his master's degree with a 10.
